How to donate toys to Santa Claus of the Chaffey District

Santa Claus of the Chaffey District, a nonprofit organization that provides toys and other items to families in need, is still accepting donations of new toys for this holiday season and will soon open registration for families requesting toys.

The volunteer organization, founded in 1955, serves families in Ontario, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino and Fontana and helps a maximum of 1,680 families each year, according to a press release.

The program accepts new and gently used items, though the deadline for donating used items for this season has passed. Beginning in February volunteers work throughout the year repairing and refurbishing used toys.

Donations of new toys suitable for children from birth to age 12 are still welcome, and toys may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Santa Claus of the Chaffey District’s office, 1330 E. D St., Ontario.

Families may apply for this year’s toy distribution between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 18 through Nov. 23 at the office in Ontario. Those applying must bring a valid photo ID; a current utility bill, showing name and present address; each child’s birth certificate with parent’s name on it; and each child’s Social Security card, county immunization record, Medi-Cal card or school ID.

Toy distribution will be in December, and families will be given a date and time for pick-up when they sign up.
