The lead on The Bachelorette wants the contestants to lay out their feelings and declare their love. In contrast, it's actually very rarely that the Bachelorettes get that open with how they feel until they choose a winner. However, JoJo Fletcher told Jordan Rodgers "I love you" in a unique way during her season. Unfortunately, he did not pick up on her signals. They were just a little bit too subtle. Fortunately, it all worked out for them nonetheless. They got engaged during her season finale in 2016 and have been solid ever since. In a joint interview with People Now , Jordan said, "She told me after the show, 'You know every time I would squeeze your hand three times, that meant I love you.' I did not know that." He even admitted, "That would have made things a lot easier." Well, it all ended up OK for the two of them regardless. This came up during a segment when the couple answered questions about pet peeves, habits, and other as...

This is a preview of a research report from Business Insider Intelligence , Business Insider's premium research service. To learn more about Business Insider Intelligence, click here . The average US consumer holds about three nonretail credit cards with a balance over $6,000, according to Experian. As confidence rises, spending is hitting prerecession levels. For banks, that should be a good thing, since credit cards are profitable. But the push to attract a particularly interested and engaged customer base through sign-up bonuses and lucrative rewards offerings has led banks into a rat race, with surging expenses and rising delinquencies that are hurting returns. To make credit cards as valuable as they could be, and to bring returns back up, issuers need to direct their efforts not just toward becoming one of consumers’ three cards, but also toward becoming their favorite card. Rewards are more important than ever — three of the top four primary card deter...

Why Did Peter Go Home On 'The Bachelorette'? He Said He Didn't See It Coming

For the first half of Hannah's Bachelorette season, Peter largely flew under the radar (pun intended). He was always adorable, but wasn't necessarily in the spotlight the way some of the other men have been, for good reasons or for bad. Lately, though, things between him and Hannah had been getting serious, which is why it was so heartbreaking when Peter was sent home on The Bachelorette during Monday night's episode . Jed and Tyler nabbed the final two roses, and Hannah made it clear that it wasn't an easy decision for her. She tearfully asked to walk him out, and began to explain herself. "Everything that our relationship has been has been perfect, and it has been so easy. You're like the dream guy," she said. "It's just like, nothing [is] wrong. [You're] just not mine." Peter was devastated, but took it in stride. "You have truly always had a piece of my heart. I truly mean that," he said. "This sucks right now, and...

One Republican congressional candidate from Orange County is being called out for receiving campaign help from a political operative closely tied to indicted Trump adviser Roger Stone. Another is being chastised for using a city council email address for campaign business. And another is fighting back against people labeling her a “white supremacist” because she’s a proud Trump supporter. These are some of the news bites generating buzz on the campaign trail as local elections heat up, with seven months to go until the 2020 primary. First up is news that Costa Mesa attorney Paul Rolf Jensen is helping Mission Viejo Mayor Greg Raths with his GOP campaign challenging Rep. Katie Porter, D-Irvine, for the 45th congressional district seat. Email tipsters and redditors last week began noting that Jensen is best known for working with indicted Trump ally Roger Stone, for fighting gay rights within the Presbyterian church, and for representing a defendant who was part of the “birther” ...

Generation Z, defined as customers born between 1996 and 2010, hold up to $143 billion in spending power, but haven't yet developed brand loyalties that dictate where they store and spend that money. For banking and payments providers, attracting these customers while they're young could lead to lucrative relationships throughout their lives, with value increasing as they age, earn more money, and expand the number of financial products they engage with. Most Gen Zers haven't started using financial products beyond a bank account, which makes them a ripe opportunity for players in the space. As a result, many firms target millennials and Gen Zers together in a push to attract younger customers, but this could be limiting their ability to effectively capture the inter...

On what would have been Harry Bridges’ 118th birthday, a bronze statue depicting the iconic union leader was unveiled Sunday, July 28, in Wilmington. The life-sized statue , created by sculptor Eugene Daub, stands in front of the doors of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union’s new dispatch hall at Anaheim and Alameda streets. Organized labor pioneer Bridges founded the union — and remains its most revered figurehead nearly 30 years after his death. Attending the unveiling were several members of Bridges’ family, including his son, Robbie Bridges, and several grandchildren. Born on July 28, 1901, in Australia, Bridges arrived in San Francisco in 1920 where his subsequent union organizing activities a few years later landed him in jail. Bridges also was threatened with deportation, but became a naturalized citizen in 1945. He died on March 30, 1990, at the age of 88. The statue depicts Bridges speaking at a lectern, his right arm and forefinger extended as he makes a po...
